I humour G when she wants to hold a bunch of rowan berries, just to look at and feel and have for a little while, because her toddler mind is building connections with every experience. She loves to pick up rocks: such a properly childish activity. Who knows what it is about found objects that preoccupies the infant imagination so?

Is that a maple leaf? Is that the ‘Canadian’ showing up in her? Oh, it looks like a Manitoba Maple! That can’t be right…
Oh hi, Summer and Mom! Comments used to show up in my email, but these didn’t, so I didn’t know you’d been here. I don’t know what kind of tree it is but there are a few varieties of Maple, including the Norwegian Maple, which is native to a lot of Europe, so I would guess this is one sort or another. It was me that collected it, so it any Canadian maple-collecting tendencies evident here would be both born and bred.
